A BIT ABOUT ME

I grew up in Dublin, Georgia and began studying piano during elementary school.  I developed a love for accompanying as pianist at my local church and began to accompany adult and youth choirs as well as vocalists and instrumentalists during middle and high school.  I studied piano throughout high school with Dr. Robert Hallquist at Mercer University and then attended the University of Georgia where I graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance.  While at UGA, I had the privilege to study piano with Dr. Richard Zimdars and Dr. Martha Thomas and study organ with Dr. Egbert Ennulat.  I continued to foster my love for accompanying at UGA while serving as pianist for the University of Georgia Concert Choir under the direction of Dr. Pierce Arant; performing with groups at the campus BSU; and collaborating with many vocalists, choirs, and ensembles within the UGA School of Music.

Following college graduation, I moved to Fort Worth, Texas to attend Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.  It was there that I  completed my Master's Degree in Religious Education with an emphasis in Childhood Education. While at SWBTS, I served as pianist at Trinity Hills Baptist Church and then on staff at Lake Arlington Baptist Church as Children's Music Associate and Administrator of the Lake Arlington Academy of Music.

Upon graduation,  I moved with my husband and family to a variety of cities on the east coast.  I have had the joy to work with so many talented choirs, guest artists, instrumentalists and soloists as well as serve as pianist and choir accompanist at First Baptist Church in Milledgeville, Georgia and First Baptist Church in Gaithersburg, Maryland. I have also honed my love for piano instruction by maintaining private and online studios with students from Georgia to Maryland.  My private piano studio also expanded as I taught as a member of the teaching faculty at Columbia Institute of Fine Arts in Falls Church, Virginia; Wieuca Center for the Fine Arts In Atlanta, Georgia; and First Redeemer Conservatory of Music and Fine Arts in Cumming, Georgia.  While teaching in Cumming, I was able to spend a summer studying piano with Dr. Robert Henry at Kennesaw State University.

I relocated to Springfield, Virginia in the Fall of 2019 where my husband serves as the senior pastor at Westwood Baptist Church.  When I am not teaching piano lessons, you can find me practicing the piano, walking, gardening, cooking, playing Pokemon Go, and spending time with my husband and two sons.
